Barbara Chambers Art
""Private Quarters" 12" x 12" Mixed media on Ampersand board
As an artist, my work emerges from an intuitive process that embraces the vibrant and the tactile. Primarily focused on mixed media, I create pieces that are rich in color and imbued with a joyful, dancing energy. Circular shapes abound in my art, accompanied by an array of textures and layered papers. I am deeply fascinated by abstract circus themes and the allure of vintage aesthetics, seeking to merge these inspirations with grunge-inspired finishes. When it comes to selecting my subject matter, I draw heavily from natural elements and the abstractions of life. My approach is inherently intuitive, allowing the process to guide me rather than adhering to a predefined concept. This spontaneity infuses each piece with a sense of organic evolution and discovery.I am drawn to scenes that burst with color and texture, where shapes and stripes interact and layers reveal hidden nuances. There is a certain magic in things that peek through layers, offering glimpses of a story untold. My inspiration comes from a variety of sources. Nature's endless beauty, the multifaceted layers of paint, the whimsical world of carnivals, and the nostalgic charm of old, weathered textures all fuel my creative spirit. The allure of chipping paint and aged finishes often finds its way into my work, adding a sense of history and depth. In terms of technique, my art stands out through the incorporation of many layers of paint and textures. I employ a myriad of mark-making tools and handmade printing tools, which allow me to create a diverse and dynamic surface. This layering and texturing technique is what makes my art unique, providing a rich visual and tactile experience.Ultimately, my art is a celebration of color, texture, and intuition, inviting viewers to explore the layers and find their own meanings within.

Them hath he filled with wisdom of heart, to work all manner of work, of the engraver, and of the cunning workman, and of the embroiderer, in blue, and in purple, in scarlet, and in fine linen, and of the weaver, even of them that do any work, and of those that devise cunning work. Exodus 35:35
